If I had to sum up this weeks devlog in one phrase, it’d be: “Laying the track while the train’s coming.”
There wasn’t a ton of visible progress on the surface, but under the hood (and under the paperwork), things were moving forward to support some pretty big next steps — including a much larger, more complex level and real mobile deployment prep.
Let’s break it down:
📦 The Demo Level Gets… Bigger
The plan has always been to build a proper showcase level — something that brings together all the puzzle elements in a satisfying, slightly mind-bending way.
This week, I started scaffolding that out, which meant doubling back on a few systems to make sure they can actually handle the increased size and complexity. Think more gates, more bots, more rooms, more switches — and fewer assumptions about nice, square level shapes.
Nothing flashy to show just yet, but the guts of the level are coming together.
📱 Mobile Prep in Motion
I also spent time prepping for an actual mobile build — which meant finally addressing some long-standing issues that only really show up when you start thinking like a mobile player.
Some layout tweaks, test builds, and small-but-important UI adjustments started going in. It’s not quite ready for public testing, but it’s officially on the path.
I might or might not have copied this from a previous devlog…
🔧 Small Fixes, No Applause
One of those weeks where I fixed several little things… and immediately broke other things in the process. Classic.
I don’t even want to talk about how many times I reopened the same script just to move a button 2 pixels. But hey — polish is polish, even if it’s microscopic.
📂 Behind the Scenes, Still in Progress
Most of the actual hours this week went toward business-side work: more applications, more forms, more inbox chaos.
It’s the kind of work that won’t be in the credits, or the devlogs, but still quietly makes the whole project possible. And it’s all in service of getting Crazy Little Robots in front of more players and potential partners soon.
🔜 Next Up
- Build out the large demo level, one room at a time
- Finalize mobile-friendly layout tweaks
- Test builds across screen sizes
- More paperwork (because of course)
🙃 Devlog Final Thought
Some weeks, progress is a shiny new feature. Other weeks, it’s just making sure the foundation won’t collapse when things scale up.
This was the second kind. Still forward momentum. Still worth it.
Talk to you in next weeks devlog — hopefully with a giant new level to show off.
